England women will face
up to the Six Nations champions, France, at Twickenham on 21 March and they will
try to expand on their Rugby World Cup achievement. Gary Street's side was
beaten 18-6 in the choosing match in February and has not won the Six Nations
title since 2012. They will likewise play Italy at the Stoop before undertaking
Scotland at the 27,000-seat Northern Echo Arena in Darlington, with away
matches against Wales and Ireland.
The match with Wales in
Swansea on 8 February will be the first since England beat Canada in the Rugby
World Cup 2015 last in August. The achievement of the World Cup has truly
fortified general society's enthusiasm toward women’s rugby and that coupled with
three of the four Rugby World Cup semi-finalists playing in the Six Nations,
sets this competition up to be the most energizing yet.
Street said that It is extraordinary to take
the Six Nations in England making progress toward the Northern Echo Arena, which
is a fantastic stadium.
